It has been a busy weekend for Cooper County Democrats! We had a meeting on Thursday evening, Pick Up Boonville on Saturday, and a meeting for the 4th Congressional district on Sunday. Here’s a recap of what we did and discussed:
Thursday 4/4 Monthly Meeting
There were only a few able to attend our monthly meeting. Given the attendance of our previous meetings, the committee has decided to change our meeting format and location. We will have our next meeting at WJ’s in Boonville and will be having a speaker to give an update on what is currently happening within the party. Please invite your friends, and bring a dessert the meeting will be on Thursday 5/2 at 7 pm.
Pick Up Boonville
Pick Up Boonville was a great success! We were able to pick up four large bags of trash near the Rivers, Rails and Trails Museum. Some exciting finds of the day were a couple of old playground balls, a whole sheet of tin siding, a tarp, and a ton of plastic bottles. Remember to keep your community clean by picking up litter as you see it!
4th Congressional District Committee Meeting
The 4th CD met in Sedalia on 4/7. Attorney General Candidate, Elad Gross, gave an insightful speech about how dark money has permeated Jefferson City. He spoke about how former Governor Eric Greitens was able to receive millions in anonymous donations from non-profit organizations that are designed to hide corporations. He stated that his primary goal as attorney general would be to end these practices and make our elections transparent.
The next 4th CD meeting will be held in Warsaw at Harry S Truman state park on June 2nd. It will be our Family Picnic day so we will be able to enjoy the (hopefully) beautiful weather and socialize with others from around our district.
We’re still looking for monthly donors to help covers some expenses for the committee. Everything helps!
